Missional Learning Cohorts
Optional Tracks
Church Planting Cohort
Trains church planters and core team members that are in the formation stage (have not begun public church services) of a church plant. It also includes those that are within the two-year and under phase of existence as a church.
Existing Church Cohort
Helping leaders of churches that are wanting to transition toward a missional ethos. This option is great for teams (church staffs) to participate in together.
Key Intensives With Respected Thought Leaders
Cohort participants will spend an evening of training and interaction with leading authors and thought leaders, followed by a full training day, 5-6 times over the period of the learning journey: Dave Ferguson, Alan Hirsch, Mindy Caliguire, Hugh Halter, Neil Cole, Michael Frost
Facilitators
Brad Brisco and Lance Ford provide ongoing leadership for both cohorts, with assistance in the training regiment by respected and seasoned pastors and ministry leaders from the Kansas City metro area.
Schedule
Nine-month training circuit
Church Planting Cohort: October 22 - July 22. Meets on 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month (generally)
Existing Church Cohort: October 23 - July 23. Meets on 2nd Tuesdays of each month (generally)
The Learning Journey
Over the nine-month training period participants will meet (2x per month for Church Plant Cohort/1x per month for Existing Church Cohort) together for training sessions designed around lectures, interactive dialogue sessions, books, and videos, plus the Intensives with visiting authors and thought leaders (see above).
Bi-Weekly Mentoring Group
Church Planting Cohort participants will be assigned in a group of “Three” for accountability and mentoring. These groups will meet weekly for breakfast or lunch with Lance Ford and Brad Brisco.
Community Transformation Project
As a key training component both cohorts will be tasked with determining a mission project for the surrounding community. They will prayerfully determine where and what to do by asking missionary questions and what incarnational answers are needed to bring good news to the situation.
Resources & Events Included In Participant Fee
- 10-12 books will be read over the course of the learning journey
- 5-6 Intensives (an evening + full day)

Fees
Our desire is that finances not be a barrier to anyone's participation in this ministry, but that each member contributes what is realistic and fair for their situation. We ask, therefore, that members (with the support of their congregation/ organization) contribute as much as they are able; either $50, $150, or $250 per month. The rest of the expense is offset by the generous contributions of local churches in the Kansas City metro and individuals.
